The Mage is one of the playable hero classes in Hearthstone. Like the other hero classes, the Mage has a unique Hero Ability and a set of basic and expert cards that are available exclusively for Mage decks.
Mages have no Weapon Cards, but they have secret spell cards and unique cards that can freeze characters and deal damage to frozen characters.
Mages have high-end direct damage spells, Secret-related minions, area of effect spells and Polymorph that can turn any minion into a 1/1 Sheep!
Mages can also use spell cards to summon defenders and draw cards.

The Mage class has unique spells that allow the player to freeze characters and deal damage to frozen characters.
Blizzard will deal 2 damage to all enemy minions and freeze them - making them unable to attack next turn if they survived.
The Water Elemental minion freeze any character it damages (minion or hero) and the low cost Ice Lance will freeze a character or deal 4 damage to a frozen character.
Many "frost" combinations can be made with the different freezing spells available to the wizard, and they all work perfectly well as "stand alone" spells too.
The 2 mana cost
Frostbolt spell deal 3 damage to a character and freeze it. Follow that with a 1 cost Ice Lance and you'll freeze and deal 7 damage to a minion or player.
Mage Hero Ability
The Mage hero power is called Fireblast, and like all other Hero powers it can be activated once per turn at the cost of 2 mana. When activated, the Fireblast hero ability deal 1 damage to a minion or player. This allow the Mage hero to finish off low health minions, trigger Enrage effects and remove Divine Shields very easy.
The Fireblast ability is extremely strong, and it is important to keep a track of Mage cards with Enrage effects or effects that trigger when minions take damage.
A mage can damage it's own Acolyte of Pain to draw a card or the Gurubashi Berserker to give it 2 extra damage!
